About Course

This course is designed to provide a complete and practical understanding of Bentley STAAD.Pro, one of the most widely used software tools for structural analysis and design. The course starts with fundamental engineering concepts required before using the software and gradually progresses toward modeling, analysis, and design of real-world structures.

Students will first learn essential theoretical topics such as unit systems, structural behavior, stresses and strains, shear force and bending moment diagrams, types of structures, and an introduction to finite element analysis. These concepts build a strong foundation necessary to correctly understand and use STAAD.Pro.

The course then focuses on hands-on training in STAAD.Pro, covering model creation, material properties, load application, analysis procedures, and interpretation of results. Learners will gain experience in steel, concrete, and foundation design according to relevant design codes.

By the end of this course, students will be able to confidently model, analyze, and design structures using STAAD.Pro, understand analysis results, and apply engineering judgment to real-life structural projects. This course is ideal for civil engineering students, fresh graduates, and practicing engineers who want to enhance their structural design skills using industry-standard software.

What Will You Learn?

  • By the end of this comprehensive course, you will be able to:
  • Understand fundamental structural engineering concepts, including unit conversion, stresses, strains, shear force, bending moments, and types of structures.
  • Navigate and use Bentley STAAD.Pro interface effectively for modeling, analysis, and design.
  • Create and assign materials, sections, and member properties for accurate structural models.
  • Apply loads including dead, live, wind, seismic, and moving loads correctly.
  • Perform structural analysis using STAAD.Pro, interpret results, and verify member forces, displacements, and reactions.
  • Design RCC and steel structures according to Indian standards (IS 456 for concrete, IS 800 for steel) using WSD and LSD methods.
  • Conduct seismic and wind load analysis and apply dynamic methods like response spectrum analysis.
  • Model and analyze special structures such as water tanks, cantilever retaining walls, and crane girders.
  • Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for beams, plates, shells, and solids to simulate real structural behavior.
  • Generate tabulated design results, reports, and documentation ready for construction or presentation.
  • Apply engineering judgment to real-world projects, ensuring safe, economical, and code-compliant designs.
